Wu Wei
Wu Wei is the Taoist concept meaning effortless action. The effortless action of learning to live in harmony with life, to flow with the current. Rather than forcing or controlling, we adapt and move with change naturally.
In Yin Yoga we practice Wu Wei by simply being still. We allow sensations, thoughts, and emotions to arise, observing them mindfully without resistance.
Practising this on the mat helps strengthen our “Wu Wei muscle” - the ability to pause, listen and sense when to take action and when to wait.
In our Yin class this week we practiced this non-action. We learnt to be still - to pause and to watch. To notice what arises in the body, mind and self. Without control, without force. We let things be simply as they are and over time allowed ourselves to soften, to adapt and to let go.
How will you invite the concept of Wu Wei into your life?
